Endothelix, Inc.

Company Profile

Endothelix Inc. is an early-stage medical device company based in Houston Texas, employing a manufacturing facility in St. Francis, Minnesota.  The company is dedicated to human vascular health, with particular emphasis on screening for and monitoring vascular endothelial dysfunction.  The company’s products are intended to support research in the biology and physiology of vascular function; to provide practicing clinicians with everyday tools to diagnose and monitor endothelial function, and the effects of therapy; and in future to give patients access to the same tools for self-monitoring of their own vascular health.  Endothelial function is regarded as a barometer of cardiovascular (CV) health.

Endothelial dysfunction is associated with a spectrum of highly prevalent cardiovascular disorders, including coronary artery disease, heart attack, sudden cardiac death, stroke, lower extremity vascular disease, heart failure, kidney disease, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, lipid disorders, metabolic syndrome, syndrome “X” and diabetes mellitus.  Endothelix’s initial focus is cardiovascular healthcare.  The company’s first product    (VENDYSTM) is a low-cost technology which measures endothelial dysfunction non-invasively by means of digital (fingertip) thermal monitoring (DTM).  At present, endothelial function measurement is limited to advanced vascular research laboratories. VENDYSTM will bring practical endothelial function testing into routine clinical practice. The test is inexpensive, simple to perform, can easily be carried out by office staff without special training, is completely automated and is independent of the observer factors that plague many other vascular technologies.  Patent-protected devices and applications in pipeline include infra-red extremity imaging during reactive hyperemia; Doppler analysis of extremity pulse wave velocity and of pulse transit time; and proprietary intracoronary methods.
